The Financial District of Singapore is located south of the Singapore River. It is built mostly on land that was reclaimed through successive phases since the middle of the 19th century until today. The district has the highest concentration of banks and other financial institution in Singapore. It is located next to Chinatown, and in some instances the two areas seem to merge seamlessly.

Interestingly, there are a few tourist attractions in the Financial District that has been around long before the skyscrapers arrived. Among them is Lau Pa Sat, the former wet market that is today a major food centre. Also located here is Yueh Hai Ching Temple, one of the oldest Chinese temples in Singapore.

Getting there

The Financial District is served by two MRT stations, Raffles Place MRT Station (EW14 / NS26) on the East West Line and the North South Line; and Tanjong Pagar MRT Station (EW15) on the East West Line.
